Qualifications Required

In Alberta, PSWs are classified under Health Care Aides (HCAs).
All the same requirements apply:
Completion of an Alberta HCA Certificate Program (or equivalent).
Registration in the HCA Directory.
Eligibility through certification, PLAR, or Substantial Equivalence assessment.
PSWs working in Alberta must meet all provincial standards for HCAs if working in government-funded positions.
